1 lb ground beef
4 slices of cheese (Cheddar or American)
4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Onion slices
Ketchup
Mustard
Salt
Pepper
Directions

Season the ground beef with salt and pepper and mix gently. Form into 4 patties.
Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties for about 4 minutes per side for medium-rare.
Place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on each bun bottom, followed by the cheese-topped patty, tomato slice, and onion slice. Add ketchup and mustard as desired.
